The first time I remember feeling called was when I was about seven. I looked forward to going to church. Father Matt was well-liked by everyone in the Parish and, although I didn’t understand why, the adults laughed at his sermons bringing great joy to the entire congregation.
I was raised Catholic and married a Lutheran before settling into non-denominational Christianity. I’ve been a part of church plants, small community churches, mega-churches, and new thought churches. I’ve served in every capacity – from making coffee to leading Bible studies. I didn’t feel joy per se, but I was content serving in a capacity that I thought was fulfilling my life purpose…
